Darrell Melton - Artisan Potter

I have been throwing pottery on the wheel for about six years. I studied pottery at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia for five years and moved to New Bern, North Carolina in January of 2019. I worked for a year in the studio at The New Bern Arts and Wellness Center. I opened my own pottery studio in March of 2020. Today, my work is displayed and sold in The Arts and Wellness Center Gallery located at 919 Broad Street near Downtown New Bern.

My goal as a potter is to make unique functional pottery that, although influenced by other potters, has its own visual aesthetic. I work primarily in light colored mid-fire clay that provides durability and beauty.

I am a 26-year Navy Veteran, retiring from the Navy in 2000 and I retired from Government Service after 14 years at the end of 2019.
